Product Description - Oak Wood 1 - Width 90mm

A beautiful home begins with a beautiful floor. Its sets the tone for every room and provides a canvas for all your decorating inspirations. Improve the beauty AND value of your home, and turn it into something to be proud of.

At these prices why bother with laminates and veneers when you can have the real thing!

Milled and machined to a very high standard this is not to be compared with some cheap products that are coming in from eastern Asia and China. This is engineered to a very high standard and kiln dried 8% - 11%.

It is T & G on all 4 edges for a perfect fit and ease of installation - all boards are 'end-matched' - we don't charge £5 per m² for putting T & G on the ends. It is also Bevelled on all 4 edges which makes for a smooth surface that does not need heavy sanding after installation.

The underside has wide stress grooves to ensure stability after installation.

Dimensions

We offer a variety of widths and lengths:

The flooring comes in random lengths from 400mm - 1600mm. The shorter lengths allow for finishing to the edges.

Quality

In every parcel of flooring there is a mix of Prime quality (no knots) and a proportion of First quality (some tight knots with filler, no break-out, some stronger colour in the grain)

Flooring Finish

It is sanded to 120 grit. This is a lovely surface. After laying it may just need a light sanding to clean it before applying your first coat of your chosen finish. You do not have to rent an industrial sander and make a huge mess. You can stain, lacquer, oil or wax this beautiful wood to give it your own unique appearance.

We do not normally pre-finish this oak as there are so many alternatives you can choose from. Please look at the photos to give you some idea of just how great this product looks.

Do not confuse this with the many pre-lacquered oak floors that are available. Ours has nothing to hide. Many of them will be called 'Character' which means they will have shakes (splits) and knots which are falling out.

Background

Wood Flooring

Wood Flooring is normally a type of flooring made from the timber of hardwoods, or spruce or hard pine. There are two basic manufactured types of hardwood. Wood Flooring more often than not comes unfinished, and once it has been installed, it is sanded, then finished in the home. More modernly, the product can be pre-finished in a factory and sold as a complete Wood Flooring solution. Wood Flooring can make a living area or home llok much smarter, as there is a weighted feel to the wood that you do not get with laminate (plasticky feel) flooring. It is also more versatile when purchased with wood varnishes which enables you to change the colour of the Wood Flooring quickly and relatively inexpensively. Here at quick oak we specialise in Wood Flooring of all types, solid wood, hardwood and our speciality being oak flooring. We offer great prices and extremely fast UK delivery so feel free to browse around the site.

Real Wood Flooring and Solid Wood Flooring

Real Wood Flooring and Solid Wood Flooring are typically around 3/4" or 19mm thick, although some do come in 3/8" (10mm) or 5/16" (8mm) thicknesses. Real Wood Flooring and Solid Wood Flooring can be installed with a nail-down installation method over wood subfloors. Real Wood Flooring and Solid Wood Flooring however is susceptible to the effects of moisture and temperature, because hardwoods expand and contract with moisture and temperature changes in the atmosphere. Since Real Wood Flooring and Solid Wood Flooring expand and contract in the width of the grain, this type of hardwood flooring is not recommended to be installed over a concrete slab, unless otherwise stated by the manufacturer. There are some instances where 3/8"-thick solid hardwood can be installed on a concrete slab. Real Wood Flooring and Solid Wood Flooring has a great feel of quality to it as it is natural material and can add great value and asthetics to any home. We always recommend these types of floors over laminates and that is why we only stock the highest quality Real Wood Flooring and Solid Wood Flooring available in the UK for trade or public uses.

Oak Flooring

Rather than having one solid piece of Oak Flooring, the engineered hardwood method uses layers of Solid Oak Flooring veneer to create a product that can range in thickness from 3/8" or 8mm up to 9/16" or 14mm thick. The Oak Flooring can range in thickness depending on the manufacturer. In order to create an engineered hardwood, these veneer layers are stacked one on top of the other with the grain of adjacent layers oriented perpendicular to one other. Once the desired thickness is achieved, the Oak Laminate Flooring is cut into the correct board width. From there, Oak Flooring boards are then manufactured to have a tongue or groove on the edges. The final step is to add stain if necessary, and add a finish for quality and style. Also by doing this, the engineered Solid Oak Floor becomes less susceptible to the effects of moisture and temperature change, because wood expands and contracts in the width of the grain direction. We pride ourselves on our Oak Flooring here at Quick Oak as it is what we specialise in. You can find a vareity of widths, styles and finishes for Solid Oak Flooring in our products section and all of it comes with fast delivery across the whole of the UK. If you buy from us you can expect an extraordinary level of customer service all the way through the ordering process.
